Discover the Power of Animal Flow Workouts

Updated: Jun 10

If you're bored with your usual workout routine—the machines, the mirrors, and endless reps—it's time to shift gears. Animal Flow offers something different. It brings movement back to basics: grounded, creative, and surprisingly effective. This approach isn't about quick fixes or flashy tricks. It's about learning to move well.

In Animal Flow, you’ll crawl, glide, jump, and flow. This method builds strength, mobility, and control in a way that feels good and invigorating.

What is Animal Flow?

Animal Flow is a ground-based movement system created by Mike Fitch. It combines elements of bodyweight training, mobility work, and primal movement. The system draws on influences from parkour, breakdancing, yoga, and capoeira, but it is entirely its own unique practice.

At its core, Animal Flow teaches you to control your body in space, with precision, rhythm, and intent. Expect to move like a beast, transition with the grace of a cat, and develop a level of awareness that enhances everything else you do—whether that's sports, lifting, or just your everyday life.

Why It Works

🔹 Full-Body Movement

Animal Flow isn’t about isolating muscle groups; it’s about integrating them. Each movement engages multiple areas at once: core, shoulders, hips, wrists, and more. You're not just building strength; you're also learning how to use that strength effectively. And the best part? No equipment is needed. All you need is some floor space and a willingness to move.

🔹 Mobility Built In

Mobility isn't an afterthought; it's an essential part of every session. The way the sequences flow encourages your joints to open and move through their full range. Over time, this leads to greater ease, less stiffness, and fewer aches and pains creeping in.

🔹 Real-World Strength

Animal Flow builds functional strength that you can use in daily life. This is the kind that helps with balance, stability, and handling awkward movements—not just what you can lift at the gym. Bodyweight drills develop control and coordination that make you strong in motion, not just when standing still.

🔹 Awareness & Control

Learning new movement patterns keeps your brain engaged. You constantly work on coordination, timing, and rhythm. This sharpens the connection between your body and mind, making you more aware of how you move and why that matters.

🔹 There’s Room to Explore

Animal Flow provides structure but also allows for freedom. You can drill specific forms, link them into flows, or even play with improvisation. It's one of the few training systems that encourages creativity as much as consistency.

The Animal Flow Community

One of the standout aspects of Animal Flow is the sense of connection—both within your body and with others. Whether you're practicing at home or joining a group class, there’s a strong community element. This community is welcoming, inclusive, and grounded in mutual respect. It’s not about showing off; it's about showing up and moving well together.
